Ok so who am I. I'm a 22 year old soldier. Currently at Fort Campbell, KY. My MOS (Military Occupation Specialty) is 31B or MP...so yes I am not a bad ass SF cat or Infantry man. I have been hunting and fishing since I was around oh I'd say 14. And was in Boy Scouts since I could walk.
So I am really just a run of the mill guy who enjoys what freedoms we are slowly loosing in America. Every day we slip further and further from what the founding fathers envisioned for us. There is really nothing that I as an individual can do about this.
But thats not what this is about its about WROL or Without Rule of law.(I prefer this term over SHTF [Shit Hit the Fan]). Currently America is in a state of ROL(Rule of Law) this is how we (sane men and women) want it to stay. For an example that every one can see, Afghanistan is WROL right now. We don't want this for America. However it could happen so we as responsible people should prepare for the worst. This does not mean go out and build a nuclear shelter, buy armored vehicles, and spend every last dime on preps. In fact prepping is not even about the world ending.
How many times when the news says that some horrible weather is coming do people flock like sheep to their local stores and buy in a panic. Thats what its about being prepared if the power goes out for a week, if you loose your job, floods, or anything even the collapse of the American Government. Can you support your family in a state or emergency? Can you feed your family or protect them from anyone who wishes them harm?
You can't say this will never happen, maybe not to the extreme of Mad max or The Zombie Apocalypse. Just recently in the southern states a series of tornadoes and storms ripped though and destroyed buildings and killed over 200 people. Japan was hit my a tsunami that claimed thousands. Hurricane Katrina, we saw the looting and martial law that took place there.
Its not being paranoid by stocking up its being prepared. In fact thats the Boy Scouts moto Be Prepared. Its up to you to what extent.
In later post I will talk about my views on weaponry, food and water preps, Bugging in or Bugging out. I will share links, and videos. Hopefully we can discus this and it can be another source of information for the prepping community. Its going to be On what I feel is best for me and my family, in my current situation. Please put your input in if you think my plan is stupid let me know by posting what you would do. Why you disagree with my ideas.
So im going to throw some links out right now.

These are all great sites for information on prepping. If you have others let me know.
Good luck on your blog. We have always had an interest in living off the grid and being self sufficient. These skills go hand in hand with being prepared. Having been in the medical field (trauma) and being a firefighter I have been aware of preparing for emergencies. Living in earthquake country and than tornado country we have learned the necessity of being prepared. I have no interest in militia or apocalyptic thoughts but I am interested in others views and ideas on emergency survival tips. Perhaps I can even offer a few myself. I keep a backpack on the ready for each family member with 3 days emergency rations and supplies. These are kept in the cars or near the back door. We also have a safe room for tornadoes that we have spent many a day or night in.
ReplyDeleteHoly Crap! Im not prepared for anything! But when the shit hits the fan will we be in the right state of mind to get all our crap together?? I like the idea of having everything in one place...makes sense. I have never thought of being prepared but i guess it wouldnt be a bad idea....
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the blog, looks like you are off to a good start, keep it up. I am a 31-B also, just retired in 2005. I have been prepping sense then. What do you call yourself?
